Love and Hope Counseling Services

Love brings Hope for a brighter tomorrow!!!

My name is Therasa Miles-Greasley. I am a National Certified Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Public Health Educator and Researcher. I provide individual, couples, family and group counseling. I take a practical approach to counseling. Counseling is a journey of self-exploration by the client, meant to increase his/her level of self –awareness and self-understanding. My position as counselor is to act as the guide or facilitator of this journey. I believe as the counselor I do not act as the self-appointed expert on the client’s life who fluently dispenses advice to the client on what he/she should be thinking, feeling and doing. I do not readily provide answers/solutions to client’s questions or problems regarding themselves and their lives. Instead as counselor, I believe clients are much more inclined to own and operate an answer or solution if it is of their own creation. I believe clients are in possession of the answers to their questions. It is my job to make those answers overt. It is my job to help clients identify, develop and mobilize their own resources to successfully solve problems and meet challenges.

I utilize an eclectic style of counseling: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client Centered Therapy, Reality Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Play Theory, Art Therapy, etc. What makes counseling so stimulating and challenging is the fact that every client is unique. Each story is compelling in terms of therapeutic technique and strategy, one size definitely does not fit all. The counselor must be skilled at tailoring his/ her theoretical methods to match the client in the moment. I believe by taking an electric style to counseling I create a positive counseling environment and develop an alliance with which client revelation and personal growth are realized. Ideally, during counseling truth becomes self- evident. I go into each and every counseling relationship with the belief that the client deserves the best quality service I can give them. In return, I simply ask that my clients also make a commitment and do the work required to bring positive changes to their lives.
